Samsung and Google have yanked their CTIA Fall product launch, the event expected to debut the Samsung Galaxy Prime aka Nexus Prime. “Samsung and Google decide to postpone the new product announcement at CTIA Fall” the two companies said in a terse statement. “We agree that it is just not the right time to announce a new product. New date and venue will be shortly announced.”
Although the reason to delay is unconfirmed by either company, shifting the much-anticipated handset’s unveil could well be an attempt to avoid clashing with the funeral of Steve Jobs, who passed earlier this week. The date of the service is yet to be confirmed by Jobs’ family.
Multiple leaks – including video footage earlier today – had apparently previewed the Galaxy Prime, which is tipped to feature a 4.65-inch Super AMOLED HD display, dual-core processor and HD capable main camera. The phone will be a Google Experience device, offering a pure install of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
The date to which the Galaxy Prime event has been moved is unclear at this stage, and it’s not known whether Samsung and Google have decided on an alternative. We’ll keep you updated as we learn more.
